Your 'First Month' At ATT
Welcome Welcome, your ATT adventure starts here.
There is so much to learn and discover at Animal Think Tank. All of us are still learning so never feel you're alone if you're feeling a little bit lost. At the start of your adventure here your impact will inevitably start off low and you may feel like you're not getting as much work done as you would like. This is normal. We're here to help you grow and enable you to make the greatest impact that you can.
Rather than thinking about reaching the 'end of your first month', think about reaching the end of your orientation phase. The end of your orientation phase doesn't necessarily end after one month, nor when your performing at your optimum, but rather when you understand and have the capacity to use ATT's process and practices that will give you platform you need to reach your full potential.
Our key piece of advice is to note down, track and process your 'tensions' (check this word out in our glossary). Don't keep ideas, questions, problems etc. locked away. Let's hear them!
We hope these words adapted from Elizabeth Slade will help you begin your ATT journey:
Follow your instincts
Make the role your own
Ask for help early and often, from everyone and anyone, inside or outside the organisation
Nothing is a silly question
Make time for reflection
Follow where the life and energy is
Pay attention to roles and structures - even though they aren't exactly real
Pay attention to relationships — they are real
If in doubt, do what is truthful and loving
Keep track of your first impressions and questions as they will be insightful
Stay connected to the big picture
Wild suggestions are always welcome
