Office Norms

We Are ALL Crew

There's no cleaner, mum or dad, nor someone "in charge."

If you see something that needs doing, do it.

If you can't do it, find someone who can help you.

If you're too busy, find someone who can own it.

Worst case add to the Project Boards.

Some things that are currently a norm around here:

  • We start and end punctually and respect people's time

  • The main office space is kept quiet for people to work: chats, socials, meetings, calls, etc are done elsewhere

  • We keep the place clean and tidy, we look after our own mess, we leave places as we'd like to find them (inc furniture, removing flipcharts, stationery, cups, tissues, blankets, etc)

  • We keep our desks presentable and the office a place to be proud of

  • We're mindful of other people's sensitivities, inc sensory stimulus: bright lights, noise or smells - wear some deodorant but not too much!

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays are 'deep work' days - we try to avoid meetings so people can do deep work

  • We are generally present in the office Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and whether an early or late starter here between the core hours of 09:30 and 16:00

  • We tend to do lunch together around 12:30ish

  • 'Fancy Fridays' - we dress 'up' on Fridays and someone sorts a treat

  • Food in the 'pantry' is communal; food in the fridge is mostly personal

  • Keep personal food at your desk / in your drawers

  • We take personal initiatives that contribute to the whole

  • We do our bit of what others have missed

'What comes around, goes around': we assume good intent, give generously, we're not petty, some do more of one thing, others more of another, but everyone does their share of the invisible work.
