Setup Guide: Email
We use something called an "email alias" to send from our official ATT email addresses. This means that your ATT email doesn't have its own separate inbox. Instead, any emails sent to your ATT address will automatically be forwarded to an inbox of your choice. You can then read and reply to these messages from that inbox, and when replying, the email will appear as if it’s sent from your ATT address.
You will need to decide which inbox to send and receive ATT emails from. Some people use an existing email address, while others create a new email address specifically to receive and send ATT emails - it's up to you. In any case, we recommend using a Gmail address, as we have provided clear instructions for this. If you want to use another provider, you'll need to do your own research on how to up an alias - and bear in mind that some providers (such as Co-op mail) don't allow aliases.
Once you've decided which email address will serve as your ATT inbox, notify Onboarding. Onboarding will set up your ATT email address to forward emails to your chosen inbox. Once you've verified that you can receive emails sent to your ATT email address, follow the below instructions to be able to send from your ATT email address.
Go to your Google Account's security settings and turn on 2-Step Verification.
Then, go to Google's App Passwords page. Create a new app-specific password, which will appear as 16 random letters. Be sure to copy-paste it.
Lastly, follow the instructions here. Step 1 requires you to enter certain details, which you'll find below.
For the initial email address: enter your ATT email address
For the SMTP Server field: enter smtp.gmail.com
For the Port field: choose 587
For the username field: use the full address of the Gmail address you're using, including the @gmail.com. If your email is lukeskywalker@gmail.com, enter that whole address.
For the password field: paste the App Password you copied earlier.
Ensure the Secured connection using TLS box is ticked
