Keeping Healthy At Work

Existing in physical form can be difficult, so we have introduced some practices to make it a little easier. After all, looking after you flesh prison is a form of self care!

Ergonomics

We have invested heavily into flashy furniture (mechanised desks?!) to keep our physical forms in optimal condition. An office environment isn't a natural setting for humans (or any other animal for that matter), but there are steps we can take it to make it more compatible with our bodies.

We have equipment to make desk work less strenuous, including keyboards, vertical computer mice, laptop stands, and screens. We also have a variety of seating options (you know they're fancy because they come with instruction manuals; you can find these pasted on the office walls) and adjustable desks.

Our local ergonomics geek, Mark Westcombe, will be thrilled to impart his encyclopaedic knowledge on this subject and how to make the equipment work for you, should you request it or not.

Fruit Bowls

These are not just here for decoration!

In today's environment we are inundated with processed foods, so we want to make it easier to opt for a healthier option when it comes to snacking. There are fruit bowls in the office, as well as jars filled with various nuts and dried fruits (if you feel like you need a break from being human, we highly recommend grabbing a handful, copping a squat, and pretending you're a squirrel as you nibble away - no thoughts, just vibes).

To top it off, the pantry is stocked with a veritable panoply of herbal concoctions and teas - a collection to make any herbalist green with envy. In the drinks department we likewise tend to avoid processed, sugary beverages.

Finally, in the interest of avoiding bad press and looking after our members' physical and mental wellbeing, we also stock B12 supplements.

Sustainable Working Practices

Unlike our mechanised desks, we realise that humans are not machines made to work in an office for 8 (or more) hours a day. We're really supposed to be out in the wild gathering fruit and running through streams and forests, but capitalism happened.
